Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous retail or bakery experience helpful but not required
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights
  • Ability to follow food safety guidelines
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items
  • Inform customers of bakery specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes
  • Recommend bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality and review sell-by dates
  • Properly use kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, and steamers
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report ordering and shipping discrepancies
  • Locate products upon customer request
  • Stay current with promotional ads
  • Gain and maintain product knowledge
  • Maintain inventory and stocking conditions
  • Ensure cases and coolers maintain proper temperatures
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Display a positive attitude
  • Inspect equipment and notify management of needed repairs
  • Report customer or employee accidents
  • Report all safety risks and illegal activities
