Job Duties
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products
- Gain and maintain knowledge of bakery products and respond to questions and make suggestions
- Offer product samples and prepare bakery items, including wedding cakes, using bakery equipment
- Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get desired products
- Check product quality for freshness and review sell-by dates, taking appropriate actions
- Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items
- Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Understand store layout and locate products for customers
- Maintain inventory awareness and report discrepancies
- Adhere to local, state and federal health and civil code regulations
- Follow merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, and safety protocols
- Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
- Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment repair needs
- Report safety risks, illegal activities, and accidents
- Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
