Job Duties
- Create environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions
- Offer product samples and prepare bakery items including wedding cakes using proper equipment
- Recommend bakery items to customers to meet their needs
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
- Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items
- Label, stock, sign and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies
- Understand store layout and locate products for customers
- Maintain awareness of inventory and note discrepancies
- Adhere to health and civil code regulations
- Ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor control, loss prevention, maintenance, safety and food safety rules
- Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
- Practice preventive maintenance and report repair needs
- Report all safety risks and illegal activity
- Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
