Job Duties
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
- Provide customers with fresh products with correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers
- Use bakery equipment including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
- Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes
- Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
- Properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
- Stock and label department merchandise and maintain inventory
- Report ordering and shipping discrepancies to department manager
- Know store layout to assist customers in locating products
- Stay informed of current and upcoming product specials and advertisements
- Maintain knowledge of products sold in the department to respond to customer questions and suggestions
- Maintain awareness of inventory and note discrepancies
- Ensure proper case and cooler temperatures and maintain temperature logs
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Create welcoming environment for customers and answer product-related questions
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions
- Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed
- Report customer and employee accidents
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
