Job Duties
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products
- gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions
- prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products
- inform customers of bakery specials
- provide customers with fresh products and the correct portion size to prevent shrink
- recommend bakery items to ensure customers get desired products
- use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
- prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
- measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment
- adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- check product quality and review sell by dates
- properly use kitchen equipment including stove, fryer, steamer
- label, stock and inventory department merchandise
- report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to department manager
- display a positive attitude
- understand store layout and locate products when requested
- stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- maintain awareness of inventory and note discrepancies
- adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
- ensure proper temperatures and logs in cases and coolers
- reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions
- practice preventive maintenance and notify management of repair needs
- notify management of customer or employee accidents
- report all safety risks or illegal activity
