Job Duties

  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products
  • gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions
  • prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products
  • inform customers of bakery specials
  • provide customers with fresh products and the correct portion size to prevent shrink
  • recommend bakery items to ensure customers get desired products
  • use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality and review sell by dates
  • properly use kitchen equipment including stove, fryer, steamer
  • label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to department manager
  • display a positive attitude
  • understand store layout and locate products when requested
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • maintain awareness of inventory and note discrepancies
  • adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
  • ensure proper temperatures and logs in cases and coolers
  • reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions
  • practice preventive maintenance and notify management of repair needs
