Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Hy-Vee Food Safety program
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly
- Must have vision capable of depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
- Ability to perform physical activities such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions
- Must be punctual and adhere to company policies
- Employment contingent upon successful pre-employment drug screening
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Hy-Vee Food Safety program
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions effectively
- Basic math skills including add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Job Duties
- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner throughout the store
- Learn customers' names and address them personally whenever possible
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along suggestions
- Answer telephone promptly and provide helpful service including taking product orders
- Work collaboratively with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Take customer orders at the bakery counter and accurately wrap, weigh, and label products
- Apply merchandising labels and stock product cases with proper rotation and presentation
- Serve as the final inspector of products before display, ensuring signage accuracy
- Maintain cleanliness and follow sanitation procedures in the work area
- Ensure availability of advertised items and report out-of-stock products to Bakery Manager
- Adhere to company policies, personal hygiene, and dress guidelines
- Report to work on time and as scheduled
