Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of Hy-Vee Food Safety program
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience
  • Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly
  • Must have vision capable of depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions
  • Must be punctual and adhere to company policies
  • Employment contingent upon successful pre-employment drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of Hy-Vee Food Safety program
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions effectively
  • Basic math skills including add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner throughout the store
  • Learn customers' names and address them personally whenever possible
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along suggestions
  • Answer telephone promptly and provide helpful service including taking product orders
  • Work collaboratively with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • Take customer orders at the bakery counter and accurately wrap, weigh, and label products
  • Apply merchandising labels and stock product cases with proper rotation and presentation
  • Serve as the final inspector of products before display, ensuring signage accuracy
  • Maintain cleanliness and follow sanitation procedures in the work area
  • Ensure availability of advertised items and report out-of-stock products to Bakery Manager
  • Adhere to company policies, personal hygiene, and dress guidelines
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled
