Job Description
This job opening is for a Bakery Finisher position within the bakery department of a retail store or supermarket setting. The bakery department is an essential and exciting part of the store, responsible for providing freshly prepared bakery products to customers. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in a bakery or food service environment preferred
- ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- basic math and measurement skills
- ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
- ability to follow detailed instructions and bakery procedures
- strong attention to detail and ability to manage inventory
- excellent customer service skills
- basic knowledge of health and safety regulations
- ability to handle cleaning and maintenance tasks
- good communication skills with team members and management
Job Qualifications
- knowledge of bakery functions such as mixing, scaling, proofing, baking and frying
- knowledge of basic bakery terms and processes such as fermentation, bench time, proofing, and effects of temperature variations on bakery items
- ability to develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior
- ability to assist in counter service and ensure enjoyable customer visits
- experience in inventory control and ordering bakery ingredients and supplies
- proficiency in pricing, dating, wrapping, or bagging bakery products
- knowledge of safe and proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures
- excellent communication and teamwork skills
- willingness to comply with safety and accident prevention policies
Job Duties
- develop maximum customer relations through a friendly and courteous behavior
- promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication
- assist in any way possible with counter service, making our customers visit an enjoyable one
- turn on bakery equipment, icing conditioner, ovens, proof box etc. at start of shift
- responsible for an accurate inventory of all salable products
- assist fryer cut yeast raised then assist in filling, icing, traying and pricing of these items
- responsible for all cleaning and filling of creme hoppers and icing conditioners
- knowledge of bakery functions such as mixing, scaling, proofing, baking and frying
- knowledgeable of basic bakery terms and processes such as fermentation, bench time, proofing, and effects of temperature variations on bakery items
- assist in making orders for bakery ingredients and supplies and maintain inventory levels in accordance with department and store policy
- capable of filling, rotating, arranging and merchandising displays and display cases
- possess knowledge of pricing, dating, wrapping or bagging of all bakery products in accordance with department manager
- continually practice self-development so that additional duties and responsibilities can be assumed
- comply with all company safety and accident prevention policies reporting all accidents to the Bakery Manager
- attend store and company meetings upon request
- clean and sanitize areas of bakery and equipment as directed by Bakery Manager
- maintain all department equipment in good working order and recommend repair of equipment when deemed necessary
