Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • food handlers certificate (ServSafe or ANSI compliant organization)
  • baking and pastry certificate preferred

Job Qualifications

  • 18 plus years old
  • baking experience of 1 plus years
  • intermediate knowledge of artisan breads and pastries including cake decorating
  • ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • team-player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
  • ability to follow directions and established procedures with attention to detail
  • clear and effective communication style both written and verbal
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • basic math skills
  • conversational English skills required when working with customers
  • bilingual proficiency preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • address the needs of customers and answer their questions in a timely and effective manner
  • acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of bakery menu, products, and services
  • take orders with attention to detail including preferences
  • assist the Bakery Manager with production planning for special events and holidays
  • measure, mix, and prepare products according to company specifications and recipes
  • prepare and bake in-house products to daily par levels
  • complete production and spoilage records to minimize waste
  • package and price bakery products
  • receive, organize, rotate, and stock workstation and department supplies
  • clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment
  • operate bakery equipment such as mixers, proof box, sheeter/laminator, ovens, and bread slicer
  • answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • follow and comply with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • immediately report safety hazards and violations
  • perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
  • perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
