Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience
  • Certified Bakery Expert or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of H-E-B School of Retail Management (SORM) training or willingness to complete upon hire
  • Food Safety certification
  • Forklift and power jack training
  • Ability to stand and lift 50 pounds occasionally
  • Capability to work in varying temperatures including coolers and near ovens
  • Ability to work extended hours including weekends and nights
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to stressful situations
  • Effective delegation and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Bakery Expert or equivalent such as Retail Bakery Association-Certified Master Baker
  • Completion of H-E-B School of Retail Management (SORM) training
  • Experience in leading people, ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control
  • Food safety certification
  • Forklift and power jack training
  • Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills including MS Office and H-E-B systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate effectively

Job Duties

  • Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Bakery department
  • Supervise and train a team of Partners in high-volume bakery production
  • Prepare production plans and ensure correct quantities are produced daily
  • Monitor showcase production, stales, and maintain product levels
  • Manage inventory control, shrink, ordering, and contribute to budget and payroll monitoring
  • Execute merchandising programs to drive sales and maintain a large product assortment
  • Enforce food safety and sanitation standards consistent with federal, state, and company policies
