Job Requirements

  • Three or more years of leadership experience
  • Certified Bakery Expert or equivalent preferred such as Retail Bakery Association-Certified Master Baker
  • Completion of or commitment to complete H-E-B School of Retail Management (SORM) training
  • Food safety certification
  • Forklift or power jack training
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Ability to stand and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and side to side throughout the shift
  • Possess hand and finger dexterity
  • Ability to safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to work regularly in a cooler environment and occasionally in extreme cold
  • Ability to work in extreme heat from ovens and fryers
  • Availability to work extended hours and varying schedules including weekends and nights as dictated by the business

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Bakery Expert or equivalent preferred such as Retail Bakery Association-Certified Master Baker
  • Completed H-E-B School of Retail Management (SORM) training or willingness to complete comprehensive training program upon hire
  • Experience leading people, ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to supervise and train a high-volume production team
  • Food safety certification

Job Duties

  • Use independent judgment to make employment-related and business decisions or recommend decisions including product and department strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or resolving Partner-related matters
  • Train School of Retail Management (SORM) and School of Retail Leadership (SORL) trainees
  • Assist all Partners in the department with their duties, coach, train, and evaluate as needed
  • Hold Partners accountable for following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Prepare work schedules, order product, control inventory, monitor department budget and payroll
  • Prepare the production plan and ensure correct quantities are produced
  • Maintain product levels by conducting weekly reviews of production quantities
  • Monitor showcase production and track stales
  • Accountable for results of Bakery Scorecard
  • Execute merchandising programs and drive sales by producing appropriate variety and quantity of bakery products daily
  • Manage large product assortment and sales volume
  • Increase department contribution by managing shrink and inventory levels
  • Maintain highest levels of customer service through personal example, SOP compliance, and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and H-E-B policies and standards for product food safety and sanitation
  • Maintain safety and sanitation of equipment and department and sanitation standards throughout work area
