Job Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- At least 2 years retail grocery experience
- Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift weights up to 40 lbs
- Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain
- Knowledge of bakery operations and equipment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to operate bakery machinery
- Reliable and dependable
- Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
- Ability to manage inventory and budgets
- Willingness to participate in team environment and take direction
- Physical capability to perform all bakery tasks without mechanical assistance
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years retail grocery experience
- Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule including night, weekends, and holidays
- Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude towards team members and customers
- Good communication skills and ability to give and take direction in a team environment
- Ability to answer phones and take special orders
- Perform general housekeeping and sanitation in the department including all equipment and work areas
- Ability to operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- Knowledge of scales and weight measures for accurate weighing and labeling
- Physical ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously for an 8-hour shift
- Capability to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs from 7 inches to 64 inches up to 10 hours
- Ability to vertically and horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
- Adherence to safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
- Achievement and maintenance of a Food Handler’s permit
- Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
Job Duties
- Manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
- Supervise and monitor product quality and consistency, track inventory, and manage the bakery's budget
- Evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement
- Develop and implement improved practices and procedures
- Ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
- Responsible for correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage
- Execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
- Manage department inventory, in-stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes
- Plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
- Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and development discussions
- Make recommendations on merit increases via performance reviews
- Attend and participate in in-store meetings regularly
- Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions with the Store Manager
- Exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns
- Take and document corrective actions including coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline
- Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels for maximum productivity
- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
- Lead a team to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and best customer experience
- Serve as a Key Carrier and/or Manager on Duty as needed
