Job Duties

  • exhibit and develop maximum customer and vendor relations through a friendly and courteous behavior
  • promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication
  • maintain good working relationships with other department managers with objective of improved sales storewide
  • at all times remember that our success will be dependent upon our ability to work together
  • plan, organize, direct and control the activities of the Bakery Department
  • know and have the ability to cost out all material to determine proper retails
  • know and have the ability to do a master production sheet
  • aid in the development and growth of all department personnel by insuring regular implementation of company training, evaluation, and counseling procedures
  • possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others all fundamentals of bakery production including mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying and finishing
  • plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales
  • maintain effective control of department labor and inventory in line with established budgets and guidelines
  • maintain effective department security in compliance with company policy and directives
  • responsible for gross profit, merchandising, preparing and displaying product within the set standards and guidelines
  • maintain an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas as it relates to the Bakery Department
  • associate performance evaluations must be done effectively and on a timely basis
  • with the Store Manager, develop and coordinate associate work schedules to insure maximum customer service, productivity and efficiency
  • assist in the receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising of all bakery products
  • maintain a high level of coordination and communication with other departments to ensure smooth flow of products and service
  • maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times
  • comply with all company policies, programs and directives
  • comply with all company safety and accident prevention policies
  • maintain associates appearance and dress code including uniform and identification
  • attend store and company meetings
  • participate in weekly Department Managers Meetings offering input
  • maintain proper housekeeping and maintenance of assigned areas
  • maintain all department equipment in good working order and recommend repair of equipment when necessary
