Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior bakery or food production experience
  • previous management or supervisory experience preferred
  • knowledge of bakery production techniques
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to train and mentor staff
  • ability to develop merchandising strategies
  • basic budgeting and inventory control skills

Job Duties

  • Assist in planning, organization, and direction of bakery department activities
  • cost out all materials to determine proper retails
  • create master production sheets
  • develop and grow department personnel through training, evaluation, and counselling
  • teach fundamentals of bakery production including mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying, and finishing
  • plan aggressive merchandising programs to increase sales
  • assist management with cross merchandising ideas
  • maintain control of department labor and inventory according to budgets
  • enforce department security policies
  • monitor competitive activity and company interests
  • manage receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of bakery products
  • coordinate and communicate with other departments for smooth operations
  • maintain department records
