Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior bakery or food production experience
- previous management or supervisory experience preferred
- knowledge of bakery production techniques
- strong leadership and communication skills
- ability to train and mentor staff
- ability to develop merchandising strategies
- basic budgeting and inventory control skills
Job Duties
- Assist in planning, organization, and direction of bakery department activities
- cost out all materials to determine proper retails
- create master production sheets
- develop and grow department personnel through training, evaluation, and counselling
- teach fundamentals of bakery production including mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying, and finishing
- plan aggressive merchandising programs to increase sales
- assist management with cross merchandising ideas
- maintain control of department labor and inventory according to budgets
- enforce department security policies
- monitor competitive activity and company interests
- manage receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of bakery products
- coordinate and communicate with other departments for smooth operations
- maintain department records
