Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage inventory, budgeting, and staff scheduling
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Valid Food Handlers permit
  • Ability to use bakery equipment safely
  • Experience in team coaching and performance management

Job Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience
  • Demonstrate dependable and reliable work ethic
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Exhibit outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude
  • Possess good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to answer phones and take special orders
  • Perform general housekeeping and sanitation of the department
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • Knowledge of scales and weight measures for accurate product labeling
  • Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously and transfer items up to 40 lbs without mechanical assistance
  • Adhere to safety, health, and food handling regulations
  • Possess a Food Handlers permit
  • Understand personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
  • Supervise and monitor product quality and consistency, track inventory, and manage the bakery's budget
  • Evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement
  • Develop improved practices and procedures
  • Ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
  • Responsible for correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage
  • Execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
  • Manage department inventory, in-stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes
  • Plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
  • Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and development discussions
  • Attend and participate in in-store meetings
  • Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions
  • Address team member concerns independently
  • Document corrective actions and collaborate with HR on performance management
  • Create and adjust staffing schedules to ensure maximum productivity
  • Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
  • Lead a team to deliver quality products, service, and customer experience
  • Serve as a Key Carrier and/or Manager on Duty as needed
