Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior supervisory experience in bakery or related field
  • Proficient in using bakery ovens, convection ovens, mixers, fryers, bread slicers, and cleaning equipment
  • Ability to lift, twist, move and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Ability to accurately handle transactions including cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers
  • Willingness to work in varying temperatures including heat, cold, humidity and dust
  • Ability to train, motivate and guide bakery team members
  • Understanding of health and safety codes and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Basic mathematics skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Experience with bakery equipment including oven, convection oven, mixer, fryer, bread slicer, stove and cleaning materials
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in food preparation and storage

Job Duties

  • Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
  • Initiate and make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, discipline, promotion and evaluation of bakery personnel
  • Orient and train new bakery employees and retrain as necessary
  • Develop weekly labor schedules for bakery department employees for store manager approval
  • Supervise and actively wrap, package, and sell bakery goods
  • Supervise and bake bread, rolls, buns, cakes, pies, pastries and brownies
  • Maintain company standards for perishables and follow all active safety procedures
  • Transport and stock goods within the bakery department
  • Ensure health and safety codes are met, check pricing and expiration, and maintain an organized bakery area
  • Check, record and retain cooler/freezer temperatures and maintenance
  • Stay updated with health and safety standards and maintain knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Accurately record customer orders for cakes and other bakery items
  • Order bakery products and supplies to prevent out-of-stocks while maintaining turnover
  • Comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions regarding store policies and equipment usage
  • Supervise and perform organizing of cooler/freezer/preparation area for merchandise and verify deliveries
