Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 60 pounds

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in bakery or food service preferred but not required
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to follow department standards and procedures
- knowledge of product variety, standards, perishability, handling, sanitation, labeling, and policies
- mental alertness and basic math skills
- ability to operate bakery equipment such as bread slicer, mixer, ovens, and proof boxes
- computer software and electronic ordering device proficiency
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays
- commitment to safety and quality standards
- willingness to learn and grow within the company.
Job Duties
- Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service
- assists customers by making product suggestions, filling special orders and food preparation suggestions
- answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately, resolves customer complaints and reports to Store Director as needed
- engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one-on-one customer interaction
- helps customers with special orders for cakes and other bakery items, including adding personalization to baked items
- implements proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques
- maintains bakery case cleanliness, sample tray, visual appeal, and inventory levels
- slices bread and prepares all bakery items, including proofing, baking, packaging, and icing product
- ensures temperatures are maintained in all phases of preparation, display, and storage
- may assist with physical inventory taken every 4 weeks
- controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness and maintains inventory levels
- stocks and rotates product and cooler
- understands opening and closing department procedures
- builds displays, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product
- responsible for ensuring proper code dating for all products within the department
- implements effective promotional and seasonal displays
- performs receiving duties including breaking downloads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortage, stocking, and rotating product
- processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records
- accurately completes and monitors daily log sheets, production charts, sales and labor, and other required paperwork and logs
- controls shrink and cost
- ensures compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company, and code dating policies
- complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations
- ensures safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, equipment, prep area and display area
- responsible for performing all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity
- performs other necessary and required duties as assigned.
