Job Requirements

  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to push and pull racks with approximately 100 pounds of product
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds chest high
  • Ability to perform visual inspection and follow production guides
  • Ability to catch breads and operate kitchen utensils
  • Maintain composure with customers and coworkers
  • Reach overhead and perform physical tasks
  • Stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
  • Bend, stoop, crouch, push, pull, lift frequently
  • Handle bakery ingredients safely
  • Perform basic math and compute weights and measures
  • Perform duties with mental alertness in a hazardous environment
  • Respond to audible timers on equipment
  • Work around equipment emitting heat (approx. 465 degrees)
  • Follow safety and sanitation procedures
  • Use of cleaning chemicals and handle related food products
  • Perform duties efficiently and accurately
  • Manage time and multitask
  • Wear required personal protective equipment
  • Check labels and packaging
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Work collaboratively in a customer service environment
  • Operate kitchen utensils with manual dexterity
  • Demonstrate knowledge of product perishability and regulations
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Food handlers certification per state laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in bakery or food production preferred
  • Knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients
  • Ability to operate bakery machinery
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and production instructions
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the job

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • Maintain a friendly, enthusiastic customer service environment
  • Produce bakery products for retail stores
  • Operate and clean equipment and work area
  • Package fresh products following packaging and handling procedures
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code
  • Mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
  • Dump icing or toppings into storage containers
  • Set-up cakes with liners and icing layers
  • Ice cakes, border and decorate
  • Package cakes in boxes
  • Label bakery items using DiGi machine
  • Display products using FIFO for rotation
  • Take customer orders by phone and in person
  • Personalize cakes with customer messages
  • Face merchandise
  • Engage in suggestive selling and sales techniques
  • Follow packaging and handling procedures
  • Assist customers with inquiries about products and specials
  • Ensure legal labeling and code dating compliance
  • Monitor stock levels and fill out inventory sheets
  • Produce breads and rolls including mixing, operating machines, and baking
  • Clean work area using appropriate equipment
  • Produce croissants by folding, proofing and baking
  • Open and close bakery according to procedure
  • Perform other duties as assigned
