Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly
- Physically able to perform activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
- Visual acuity including distance vision, color vision, depth perception and field of vision with or without correction
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain strict personal hygiene and follow dress code
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening
- Availability to work scheduled shifts
- Ability to interact positively with customers and coworkers
Job Qualifications
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of related work experience in a bakery or retail environment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Basic customer service skills
- Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene practices
Job Duties
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner
- Make an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name whenever possible
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out of reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions or requests, and enhancing the shopping experience
- Review the status and appearance of bakery products for freshness
- Review daily bakery orders
- Take customer orders at the bakery counter
- Work with coworkers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Understand and practice proper sanitation procedures, maintaining a clean and neat work area
- Ensure adequate food supply and follow a production list
- Anticipate daily product needs for the department
- Prepare, finish and replenish bakery products
- Pull products from cooler or freezer to prepare for baking
- Check in products, put them away, and review invoices
- Run bakery department registers, process payments and make change as applicable
- Remove trash in a timely manner
- Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Adhere to company policies and store guidelines
- Report to work on time when scheduled
- Wash dishes as necessary
- Order products and supplies as needed
- Price products for customers as necessary
- Deliver orders as needed
- Assist in other store areas as required
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned
