Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to push and pull approximately 100 lbs of product on racks
  • Ability to lift objects chest high up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to conduct visual inspections and read production guides, recipes, and labels
  • Ability to operate kitchen utensils and bakery equipment with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to maintain composure in customer and coworker interactions
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, perform repetitive movements, and reach frequently
  • Ability to handle bakery ingredients safely
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to respond to audible timers and handle equipment emitting heat (approximately 465 degrees)
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to check labels and packaging accurately
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Food Handlers Certification per state laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous bakery or food production experience preferred
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment and understand baking processes
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Basic math skills for measuring and recipe adherence
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Food Handlers Certification as required by state laws
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
  • Produce bakery products for retail stores
  • Operate and clean equipment and work area
  • Maintain clean, safe and sanitary bakery area and equipment
  • Package all fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code
  • Mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients, operating a mixer, reading the recipe, occasionally lifting 50 lbs.
  • Dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
  • Set-up cakes by taking liner off, putting icing between layers of numerous items
  • Ice cakes by taking icing out of the container, combining the icing onto the cake, lifting buckets, bordering, placing specific decorations
  • Package cakes by placing in box
  • Label bakery items by inputting data into DiGi machine for scanning, placing a label on container
  • Display products on shelves in an appealing manner using FIFO for rotation
  • Take orders by phone and in person from customers
  • Special orders by following orders from customers, using an air brush machine, tubes, tips
  • Personalize cakes by writing desired words of the customer
  • Face merchandise
  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast, friendly customer service
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques in person, over the telephone and over the in-store intercom
  • Display goods by following packaging and handling procedures and company guidelines for maintaining stock, cleanliness, and appeal of product showcases
  • Assist customers with inquiries by knowing current pricing, ingredients, availability, advertised merchandise
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations for labeling and packaging
  • Keep manager informed of stock levels, filling out inventory and production sheets as scheduled
  • Produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes, setting up racks and pans, operating machines, lifting product, measuring ingredients, operating oven, proof box
  • Clean work area using pressure hose, floor brush, squeegee, wiping work tables, scales, utensils
  • Produce croissants by folding by hand, proofing and baking
  • Open and close bakery according to company procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed
