Job Requirements

  • Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
  • pushing and pulling approximately 100 lb of product at a time on rack
  • lift objects of various dimensions chest high up to 50 lbs
  • conduct visual inspections and follow production guides, recipes and product labels
  • maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
  • reach overhead to place product on racks
  • stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
  • bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movement and reach frequently
  • handle bakery ingredients
  • perform basic math
  • perform duties with mental alertness involving potential hazards
  • respond to audible timers on baking equipment
  • perform around equipment and product emitting heat approximately 465 degrees
  • follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies
  • wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required
  • check labels and packaging of all manufactured products
  • communicate effectively with customers
  • communicate in writing and follow instructions
  • work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • operate kitchen utensils and equipment with manual dexterity, speed and accuracy
  • demonstrate knowledge of product content and perishability, safety and sanitation procedures and government regulations
  • must be 18 years of age or older
  • food handlers certification per state laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous baking experience preferred
  • knowledge of bakery equipment operation
  • ability to follow recipes and production guides
  • good customer service and communication skills
  • manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • basic math skills
  • ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • knowledge of safety, sanitation procedures and regulations
  • ability to handle repetitive tasks
  • food handlers certification as per state laws

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
  • produce bakery products for retail stores
  • operate and clean equipment and work area
  • maintain clean, safe, and sanitary bakery area and equipment
  • package all fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures
  • ensure quality of goods by following code
  • mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
  • dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
  • set-up cakes by taking liners off and putting icing between layers
  • ice cakes by combining icing, bordering, and placing specific decorations
  • package cakes by placing in boxes
  • label bakery items by inputting data into DiGi machine and placing labels on containers
  • display products on shelves using FIFO rotation
  • take orders by phone and in person, including special orders
  • personalize cakes by writing desired words
  • face merchandise
  • engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • display goods following company guidelines
  • assist customers with inquiries regarding pricing, ingredients, availability, and advertised merchandise
  • ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations
  • manage inventory by keeping manager informed, filling out inventory and production sheets
  • produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes, setting up racks and pans, operating machines, lifting product, and baking
  • clean work area using appropriate tools
  • produce croissants by folding, proofing, and baking
  • open and close bakery according to procedures
  • perform other duties as assigned or needed
