Job Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly
- Visual acuity with or without correction, including color vision, depth perception, and field of vision
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to work in a store environment exposed to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals/solvents, electrical shock, and temperature extremes
- Must adhere to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
- Must report to work when scheduled and on time
- Employment contingent upon successful pre-employment drug screen
Job Qualifications
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to write identifying information and request supplies orally or in writing
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Job Duties
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, whether in the bakery or elsewhere in the store
- Learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions, and enhancing the shopping experience
- Review the status and appearance of food for freshness
- Review daily bakery orders
- Take customer orders at the bakery counter
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Practice proper sanitation procedures and maintain a clean, neat work area
- Ensure an adequate food supply is ready and follow production lists
- Anticipate product needs daily
- Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary
- Pull product from cooler/freezer to prepare for baking
- Check in product, put product away, and review invoices
- Run the bakery department registers and handle payments where applicable
- Remove trash in a timely manner
- Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Follow company policies and store guidelines
- Report to work on time and as scheduled
