Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to push and pull approximately 100 lbs of product on racks
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs chest high
- Conduct visual inspections and follow production guides accurately
- Ability to catch breads and operate kitchen utensils with dexterity
- Maintain composure with customers and co-workers
- Reach overhead to place products on racks
- Stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods
- Bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, and perform repetitive movements frequently
- Handle bakery ingredients safely
- Perform basic math operations
- Maintain mental alertness around baking equipment and hazards
- Respond to audible timers
- Work near hot equipment (approx. 465 degrees)
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures
- Use cleaning chemicals appropriately
- Manage time efficiently and multitask
- Wear required personal protective equipment
- Check labels and packaging
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Work collaboratively in a team
- Demonstrate knowledge of product perishability and legal requirements
- Hold valid Food Handlers Certification as per state laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous bakery experience preferred
- Basic math skills for measuring and scaling ingredients
- Ability to operate kitchen and bakery equipment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Attention to detail and quality assurance
- Ability to follow recipes and production instructions
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- Maintain friendly, enthusiastic customer service atmosphere
- Produce bakery products for retail stores
- Operate and clean bakery equipment and work area
- Package fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures
- Ensure quality of goods by following code and procedures
- Mix icing or toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
- Dump icing into storage containers
- Set-up and ice cakes, applying decorations as needed
- Package cakes in boxes
- Label bakery items using the DiGi machine
- Display products on shelves using FIFO rotation
- Take orders from customers by phone and in-person
- Personalize cakes by writing customer messages
- Face merchandise to maintain visual appeal
- Engage in suggestive selling and sales techniques
- Follow packaging, handling, and signage procedures
- Assist customers with inquiries on products and special orders
- Ensure compliance with code dating and legal regulations
- Monitor inventory and production levels
- Produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes and operating ovens
- Clean work area using appropriate tools
- Produce croissants by folding, proofing and baking
- Open and close bakery following procedures
- Perform other assigned duties as needed
