Job Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- ability to push and pull approximately 100 lb. of product on racks
- ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- ability to conduct visual inspections and follow production guides and recipes
- ability to operate kitchen utensils and bakery equipment with manual dexterity
- maintain composure in customer and coworker interactions
- ability to reach overhead
- ability to stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
- ability to bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift and perform repetitive movements frequently
- handle bakery ingredients safely
- perform basic math calculations
- maintain mental alertness around baking hazards and equipment
- respond to audible timers
- work safely around high heat up to approximately 465 degrees
- follow safety and sanitation procedures
- wear required personal protective equipment
- check labels and packaging
- communicate effectively in speech and writing
- work collaboratively in a customer service orientation
- demonstrate knowledge of product content and perishability
- must be 18 years or older
- have Food Handlers Certification per state laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous bakery or food service experience preferred
- ability to operate bakery machinery and equipment
- basic math skills for measuring and recipe calculations
- strong customer service and communication skills
- ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- knowledge of safety, sanitation procedures and department policies
- ability to follow recipes and production guidelines accurately
Job Duties
- Scale, mix and bake various bakery goods
- maintain proper inventory levels of products
- ensure cleanliness and appearance of bakery department meets standards
- operate and clean bakery equipment and work area
- package fresh products following packaging and handling procedures
- follow product quality codes
- mix icing and toppings by reading recipes and measuring ingredients
- set up and ice cakes including decoration
- label bakery items using digital equipment
- display products on shelves using FIFO rotation
- take and fulfill customer orders including special cake orders
- personalize cakes with custom inscriptions
- face and stock merchandise
- provide enthusiastic and friendly customer service
- engage in suggestive selling and product promotion
- follow company guidelines for product display and signage
- assist customers with product inquiries and special orders
- maintain compliance with code dating and labeling regulations
- fill out inventory and production documentation
- produce bread and rolls using machinery
- clean and sanitize work area
- produce croissants by hand folding, proofing and baking
- open and close bakery according to company procedures
- perform additional duties as assigned
