Job Requirements
- Work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends and holidays
- Push and pull approximately 100 lb of product on racks
- Lift objects up to 50 lbs
- Conduct visual inspections, read and follow production guides and recipes
- Operate kitchen utensils and equipment with manual dexterity and hand eye coordination
- Maintain composure with customers and co-workers
- Reach overhead to place product on racks
- Stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
- Bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel and perform repetitive movements
- Handle bakery ingredients safely
- Perform basic math and compute weights and measures
- Work with mental alertness around baking procedures and equipment hazards
- Respond to audible timers
- Perform duties around equipment emitting heat
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures
- Wear personal protective equipment as required
- Check labels and packaging of products
- Communicate effectively in hearing and speech
- Write and follow instructions
- Work collaboratively in a team
- Demonstrate product knowledge and compliance with regulations
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Hold Food Handlers Certification per state laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior bakery or food production experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to operate bakery equipment effectively
- Strong customer service skills
- Capability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to read and understand recipes, production guides and labels
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job
- Food Handlers Certification as per state laws
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
- Produce bakery products for retail stores
- Operate and clean equipment and work area
- Package all fresh products following packaging handling procedures
- Ensure quality of goods by following code
- Mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
- Dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
- Set-up cakes by taking liner off and putting icing between layers
- Ice cakes by taking icing out of container, combining onto cake, bordering and placing decorations
- Package cakes by placing in box
- Label bakery items by inputting data into DiGi machine for scanning
- Display products on shelves in an appealing manner using FIFO rotation
- Take orders by phone and in person
- Personalize cakes by writing desired words
- Face merchandise
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques in person, over telephone and intercom
- Display goods following packaging handling procedures
- Assist customers with inquiries about special orders
- Ensure quality of goods by following code dating and legal labeling
- Keep manager informed of stock levels and fill out inventory and production sheets
- Produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes, setting up racks and machines, operating ovens and proof box
- Clean work area using appropriate tools
- Produce croissants by folding, proofing and baking
- Open and close bakery according to procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
