Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • ability to push and pull approximately 100 lb of product
  • lift objects up to 50 lbs chest high
  • conduct visual inspections and follow production guides
  • manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate kitchen utensils and equipment
  • maintain composure with customers and coworkers
  • ability to reach overhead, stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
  • perform frequent bending, stooping, balancing, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling and repetitive movements
  • handle bakery ingredients
  • perform basic math calculations
  • maintain mental alertness with potential baking hazards
  • respond to audible timers on baking equipment
  • work around equipment emitting heat approximately 465 degrees
  • follow safety and sanitation procedures and department policies
  • use cleaning chemicals safely
  • perform duties efficiently and accurately
  • manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • wear required personal protective equipment
  • check labels and packaging
  • communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous bakery experience is an advantage
  • knowledge of baking procedures, equipment, and safety and sanitation guidelines
  • basic math skills for measuring and computing weights and measures
  • ability to operate bakery machinery including ovens, mixers, sheeters, and other specialized equipment
  • strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • excellent communication skills for customer interaction and team collaboration
  • ability to follow recipes, production guides, and company policies
  • food handlers certification per state laws

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
  • produce bakery products for retail stores
  • operate and clean equipment and work area
  • package all fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures
  • ensure quality of goods by following code
  • mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients, operating a mixer, reading the recipe
  • dump icing or other toppings into large storage containers
  • set-up cakes by taking liner off, putting icing between layers of numerous items
  • ice cakes by combining icing onto cakes, bordering and placing specific decorations
  • package cakes by placing in box
  • label bakery items by inputting data into DiGi machine for scanning
  • display products on shelves using FIFO for rotation
  • take orders by phone and in person from customers
  • personalize cakes by writing the desired words of the customer
  • face merchandise
  • engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • display goods following packaging and handling procedures
  • assist customers with inquiries including special orders
  • ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures and legal regulations
  • ensure quantity of goods by keeping manager informed of stock levels
  • produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes and operating baking equipment
  • clean work area using pressure hose and floor brushes
  • produce croissants by folding by hand, proofing and baking
  • open and close bakery according to company procedures
  • perform other duties as assigned or needed
