The position of Commercial Bakery Chef involves leading the conceptualization, creation, and development of new bakery products. This role requires close collaboration with manufacturing teams to plan and execute plant trials, testing new product concepts and scaling them efficiently from development through to full commercial production. The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any challenges that arise during these trials, ensuring seamless product launches.

In addition to hands-on baking expertise, the Commercial Bakery Chef will also oversee the preparation and maintenance of all essential product documentation, including vendor information, trial summaries, product specifications, ingredient lists, and bills of materials. This ensures compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance protocols. The role also involves coordination with various internal departments such as Sales, Quality Assurance, and Purchasing to align on product goals and timelines.

Effective communication with stakeholders is crucial to keep projects advancing smoothly and meeting established deadlines. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage multiple product development projects concurrently, maintaining focus on key milestones and deliverables. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of commercial baking experience
  • Experience with batter-based and laminated dough products
  • Certification or formal training from the American Institute of Baking preferred
  • Proven track record of successful product development from concept to launch
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Strong knowledge of bakery manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of hands-on commercial baking experience especially with batter-based and laminated dough products
  • Certification or formal training from the American Institute of Baking highly valued
  • Proven success taking bakery products from concept to full commercial launch
  • Solid knowledge of bakery manufacturing processes
  • Strong project management and cross-department collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Job Duties

  • Lead the creation and development of new bakery products ensuring great taste quality and performance
  • Plan and run plant trials to test new products and scale production
  • Partner closely with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues during trials
  • Guide products smoothly from small-scale testing to full production
  • Create and update all product paperwork including vendor info trial summaries final specs ingredient lists and bills of materials
  • Keep documentation accurate current and compliant with regulations and quality standards
  • Collaborate with Sales Quality Assurance Purchasing and other departments to align on new product goals
  • Provide clear project updates to stakeholders and quickly solve any roadblocks
  • Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously meeting deadlines and milestones
