Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Ability to file, post and mail materials
  • Ability to copy data from one record to another
  • Ability to interview to obtain basic information
  • Ability to guide people and provide basic direction
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
  • Ability to handle exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals and temperature extremes
  • Must report to work as scheduled and on time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Ability to file, post, mail materials, copy data, interview for basic information, guide people and provide basic direction
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with bakery equipment and decorating techniques

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products out of reach, loading and unloading heavy items and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
  • Takes customer orders at bakery counter
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • Checks orders for the day and sets up a timeline and production schedule
  • Decorates bakery items in a timely manner
  • Keeps current on new designs and trends
  • Ensures department standards are met
  • Checks cake orders for details, including size, decorations, icing needs and dates
  • Orders supplies for decorating area and verifies orders
  • Delivers products and sets up wedding cakes on site
  • Communicates daily with bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads and special needs
  • Checks product dates, pulls cases for work and lists items to fill or replace
  • Develops bakery orders daily for bakers, including cakes and sizes
  • Tracks daily retail production and identifies tasks to be completed with co-workers
  • Operates as a lead worker with part-time employees, instructing and reviewing work
  • Participates in employee cross training
  • Practices proper sanitation procedures and maintains cleanliness
  • Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled
