Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Visual capability including near and far vision with color vision and depth perception
- Availability to work scheduled hours and report on time
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team
- Adherence to company policies and sanitary standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months or less of related work experience
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to conduct arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Effective interpersonal skills to guide people and provide basic direction
- Familiarity with bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, turntables, airbrush equipment, and cake machines
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and team members
- Commitment to teamwork and customer focus
- Flexibility to participate in cross-training
- Understanding of proper sanitation and safety procedures
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
- Takes customer orders at Bakery counter
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Checks orders for the day and sets up a timeline and production schedule
- Decorates bakery items in a timely manner
- Keeps current on new designs and trends
- Ensures department standards are met
- Checks cake orders for details daily and indicates supply needs
- Orders supplies for decorating area and checks off the order
- Delivers and sets up wedding cakes on site
- Communicates with bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads and special needs
- Checks product dates, pulls cases for work and lists items to fill or replace
- Develops bakery orders for bakers daily
- Tracks daily retail production
- Operates as a lead worker with part-time or other employees
- Participates in employee cross training
- Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and maintains work area cleanliness
- Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time
