Job Requirements
- high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- food handlers certificate (ServSafe or ANSI compliant organization)
- bakery and pastry certificate preferred
- ability to work all scheduled shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to stand and walk constantly during workday
- ability to lift 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- ability to work in varying temperature conditions including exposure to extreme temperatures
- willingness to work in wet and dry conditions
- must wear non-slip, water and oil resistant closed-toe shoes
- compliance with safety and sanitation standards
- ability to use hand and power tools, and bakery equipment
- ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions
- ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
Job Qualifications
- 18+ years old
- cake decoration experience of 1+ years
- intermediate cake decorating skills including ability to make flowers and decorative borders, knowledge of elegant piping techniques, different frosting techniques, assembly of cakes
- ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- ability to follow directions and established procedures with attention to detail
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- team-player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
- clear and effective communication style, both written and verbal
- basic math skills
Job Duties
- Provide excellent customer service
- address the needs of customers and answer their questions in a timely and effective manner
- accurately operate bakery cash register
- acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of bakery menu, products, and services
- take orders with attention to detail including preferences for dairy and vegetables
- forecast and complete orders for special events and holidays to meet customer requests
- measure, mix, and prepare products according to the company's specifications and recipes
- prepare and decorate all in-house bakery products to daily par levels
- complete production and spoilage records to minimize waste
- maintain bakery display case to ensure product quality, cleanliness, and accuracy of signs and pricing
- receive, organize, rotate, and stock workstation and department supplies
- clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment
- operate equipment such as register, espresso machine, ovens, mixers
- answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
- follow and comply with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- immediately report safety hazards and violations
- perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
- other duties as assigned by supervisors
