Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of three years’ experience in bakery operations
  • health department training
  • ability to perform baking tasks safely
  • physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and use hands regularly
  • visual acuity to examine documents
  • ability to climb ladders and perform cleaning duties
  • tolerance to dust, chemical fumes, and temperature extremes
  • willingness to comply with safety rules and company policies
  • ability to pass baker assessment testing
  • legal eligibility to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of three years’ experience in full bakery operations and procedures or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • health department training required
  • ability to calculate percentages and ratios for ingredients
  • effective communication skills including hearing, speaking, and understanding
  • ability to read, write, and understand English including instructions, policies, and safety notices
  • ability to fill out forms and write reports
  • thorough knowledge of baking methods, safety, and health considerations

Job Duties

  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and wear approved uniform
  • assist in receiving and unloading merchandise and verify vendor invoices
  • rotate bakery ingredients and merchandise based on product codes and use oldest products first
  • observe shift operating hours as assigned
  • control excessive use of utilities and water and conserve resources
  • maintain housekeeping and comply with health regulations
  • check refrigeration equipment regularly and report issues
  • use and maintain bakery equipment properly
  • prepare dough and baking mixtures according to recipes
  • pan frozen products and round bread
  • mix and ice sweet rolls, breads, and cookies
  • operate ovens and mixers at proper temperatures and timings
  • assist in ordering and inventory control of ingredients and supplies
  • handle damaged or spoiled products per company policy
  • accurately record invoices, markups, markdowns, and spoilage
  • monitor product sales to optimize production and minimize waste
  • adhere to all health and safety regulations
  • perform other assigned duties
  • maintain communication within the department and organization
  • assist in training when directed
  • notify managers of personnel or policy issues
  • greet customers
  • observe security standards and report abnormal behavior
  • complete required training and comply with safety equipment and company policies
  • follow safety rules
