Job Requirements

  • high school education or equivalent preferred
  • minimum three years of bakery operations experience or equivalent education and experience
  • health department training required
  • ability to calculate ingredient percentages and ratios
  • ability to hear, speak, and understand spoken words
  • ability to read, write, and understand English preferred
  • physical ability to sit, stand, and handle tools
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • visual acuity for close inspection of documents
  • ability to climb ladders
  • capability to perform cleaning and maintenance
  • ability to respond to emergencies
  • tolerance to bakery ingredients and cleaning chemicals
  • ability to work in cold and hot environments
  • must pass baker assessment test
  • must pass pre-employment drug test

Job Qualifications

  • effective communication skills including the ability to understand spoken instructions and communicate with customers and colleagues
  • proficiency in reading and understanding English instructions and company policies preferred
  • ability to fill out forms and compose reports
  • thorough knowledge of baking methods and safety procedures

Job Duties

  • maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and comply with company dress regulations
  • assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, checking products for quality and quantity
  • rotate bakery ingredients and merchandise according to store policy ensuring first-in, first-out usage
  • observe shift operating hours and company policies
  • control utilities use and practice conservation methods
  • maintain general housekeeping and comply with health regulations
  • check refrigeration equipment and report issues
  • prepare dough and baking mixtures following company recipes
  • pan frozen products and bread
  • mix and decorate sweet rolls, breads, and cookies
  • operate bakery ovens and equipment at correct temperatures
  • assist in ordering and inventory control
  • manage damaged or spoiled products per policy
  • accurately record invoices and merchandise adjustments
  • monitor product sales to optimize production and minimize waste
  • adhere to all health, safety, and packaging regulations
  • perform additional duties as assigned
  • maintain good communication within the department
  • assist in training associates
  • report personnel or policy issues to management
  • greet customers
  • adhere to security standards and safety protocols
  • complete required safety training and use personal protective equipment
  • follow safety rules
