Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of three years of experience in bakery operations
  • health department training required
  • ability to calculate ingredient percentages and ratios
  • effective verbal communication skills
  • ability to read, write, and understand English
  • ability to fill out forms and write reports
  • knowledge of bakery equipment and safety procedures
  • capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders
  • ability to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, cold and high temperatures
  • completion of baker assessment testing
  • compliance with drug testing policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of three years of experience in full bakery operations and procedures or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • health department training required
  • ability to calculate percentages and ratios for ingredient measurement
  • strong verbal communication skills to respond to pages and customer requests
  • ability to read, write, and understand English effectively
  • knowledge of operating ovens, fryers, fire suppression systems, and other equipment
  • familiarity with company policies, safety notices, and job-related documents
  • ability to complete forms and reports
  • comprehensive understanding of baking methods and safety considerations

Job Duties

  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and comply with dress regulations
  • assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, verify deliveries and inspect for quality and condition
  • rotate bakery ingredients and products according to store policy and product code dates
  • observe scheduled shift operating hours
  • control excessive use of utilities and practice conservation
  • maintain general housekeeping and cleaning programs meeting health regulations
  • check refrigeration equipment for proper functioning
  • report maintenance or equipment issues to manager
  • use and maintain baking equipment properly
  • prepare dough and baking mixtures according to procedures
  • pan frozen products and shape bread
  • mix, ice sweet rolls, breads, and cookies and apply toppings
  • operate ovens with knowledge of proper temperatures and baking durations
  • operate mixers and sheeters, scale cakes and cupcakes
  • assist in ordering and inventory control of ingredients and supplies
  • handle damaged and spoiled products per company policy
  • accurately record invoices and markups/markdowns, spoilage, and merchandise use
  • monitor product sales to optimize production
  • comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
  • perform additional work-related duties as assigned
  • maintain communication within department and organization
  • assist in training associates
  • report personnel or policy issues to manager
  • greet customers when appropriate
  • observe security standards and report abnormal behavior
  • comply with company safety initiatives and use required safety equipment
  • follow safety rules and complete mandated training
