Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • minimum three years experience in full bakery operations
  • health department training required
  • ability to calculate percentages and ratios when measuring ingredients
  • ability to hear, speak, and understand spoken word
  • ability to read, write, and understand English preferred
  • ability to fill out forms and write reports
  • ability to perform baking tasks with safety and health considerations
  • physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • able to work in refrigerated and heated environments
  • able to tolerate dust, fumes, and aromas
  • complete baker assessment testing
  • pass pre-employment drug test
  • verify eligibility to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of three years of experience in full bakery operations and procedures or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • health department training required
  • ability to calculate percentages and ratios for baking mixtures and recipes
  • ability to hear, speak, and understand spoken word for effective communication
  • ability to read, write, and understand English to follow instructions and company policies preferred
  • ability to fill out forms and write reports
  • thorough knowledge of baking methods, procedures, and safety and health considerations

Job Duties

  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress regulations
  • assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise
  • check and verify receiving to ensure items listed on vendor invoices are delivered
  • check products for quality, count, and condition
  • keep all bakery ingredients or merchandise rotated per store policy and product code dates using first in, first out principle
  • observe shift operating hours as scheduled
  • control excessive use of utilities and water and follow conservation practices
  • maintain general housekeeping including compliance with health regulations
  • check refrigeration equipment performance per shift
  • report maintenance or equipment problems immediately
  • use and maintain equipment properly
  • prepare dough and baking mixtures following company procedures and recipes
  • pan frozen products
  • mix and ice sweet rolls, sweet breads, and cookies and add toppings
  • operate oven by loading and unloading, knowing proper baking temperatures and times
  • operate mixers and other bakery equipment
  • assist in ordering and inventory control of ingredients and supplies
  • handle damaged and spoiled products per company policy
  • accurately record invoice documents and place them securely
  • record markups, markdowns, and spoilage in accordance with company policies
  • monitor product sales to optimize production and minimize unsold or stale products
  • adhere to all health, safety, and packaging laws and regulations
  • perform other work-related duties as assigned
  • maintain good communication within the department and the organization
  • assist in training associates when directed
  • notify department manager of personnel situations or policy violations
  • greet customers when encountered
  • observe security standards and report abnormal behavior
  • complete required compliance training
  • use safety equipment and follow safety rules
