Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience in bakery operations or pastry kitchen supervision
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance
- Compliance with company standards and policies
- Native American hiring preference applies.
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in bakery or pastry supervision
- Ability to train and lead a diverse kitchen team
- Knowledge of baking techniques including quick breads, yeast breads, laminated doughs, and specialty desserts
- Strong communication skills to liaise between executive chef and team
- Experience with inventory management and ordering processes
- Familiarity with sanitation and health department regulations
- Ability to work flexible shifts in a 24/7 operation
- Basic computer skills for inventory and communication
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Job Duties
- Support and uphold the Valley View Casino & Hotel’s Standards of Excellence as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success
- Maintain positive guest relations and resolve guest complaints ensuring satisfaction
- Assist in training Team Members on preparation of quick breads, yeast breads, laminated doughs, entremets, small pastries, plated desserts, specialty cakes, cookies, and pies
- Oversee and implement new bakery items for all Food and Beverage outlets
- Perform daily inventory and ordering to par levels, monitor, rotate, and utilize high-cost perishable items
- Respond to internal and external guest requests including last-minute amenities and cake orders
- Serve as a communication link between Executive Pastry Chef and bakery team ensuring production goals and standards are met
- Maintain and update recipes reflecting menu changes, organize recipe books for team use
- Direct and participate with team members to ensure all dessert and amenity orders are received, correctly directed, and meet quality standards
- Ensure correct labeling and timely delivery of bakery products
- Adhere to sanitation guidelines, food rotation, and storage requirements
- Coordinate cleaning efforts with Stewarding department
- Monitor food costs, labor costs, and assist with inventory and month-end procedures
- Ensure compliance with Health Department sanitation and temperature standards
- Maintain professional and ethical conduct
- Supervise Team Members including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.
