Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a pastry or baking role
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen equipment safely

  • Proven experience as a pastry cook or in a similar baking role
  • Familiarity with baking techniques and pastry preparation
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in food production
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and creativity in dessert decoration
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Prepare mise en place for the pastry station - gather ingredients, measure, weigh, organize tools and equipment
  • Produce baked goods and desserts such as breads/rolls, croissants or laminated doughs, Danish, cookies, pastries, tarts, custards, puddings, cakes, icings/fondants according to recipes and hotel standards
  • Decorate and finish plated desserts and dessert buffet presentations, ensuring consistency in portion, quality and visual appeal
  • Monitor ingredient usage and par stocks for the pastry station
  • assist in requisitioning supplies and managing inventory, rotating stocks appropriately
  • Ensure sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are upheld in the pastry area - clean workstations, maintain equipment, follow food safety protocols (including storage, rotation, labeling) and manage proper utilization of ingredients
  • Collaborate with kitchen and banquet teams to support special events, high-volume services and multiple outlets as required (e.g., breakfast pastries, dessert buffets, weddings)
  • Assist in shift hand-over, station clean-up, and closing procedures
  • be flexible to work early mornings, evenings, weekends or holidays as needed by hotel operations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Pastry Chef or Kitchen Management
