Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of large-scale bakery preparation or equivalent experience
  • Active sanitation certification
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work in moderate exposure to heat, fumes, smoke, odors, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and loud noises
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching
  • Occasional sitting, stooping, and crouching
  • Timely and regular adherence to established work schedules
  • Regular and reliable attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in sustainable kitchen and/or school food services environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Create and prepare tasteful and desirable baked and other food items from scratch in a timely manner
  • Review recipes and menus and estimate needed ingredients and the time required for cooking and baking
  • Ensure a sustainable operation by maintaining records of baked and cooked products prepared and served, including weighing production, overproduction, portion sizes, and waste
  • Control weight and quality of bakery products and ensure appropriate portion sizes
  • Ensure items are baked and cooked at proper temperatures and kitchen equipment adheres to sanitation regulations
  • Operate kitchen equipment and maintain the working area, equipment, and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition conforming to safety standards
  • Assist with set-up, serving, operating serving lines, cleaning kitchen and serving areas, and utensils and equipment as needed
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, storing, and restocking food, materials, and supplies
  • Train staff as directed by the cafeteria manager
  • Interact and survey customers to elicit feedback on bakery items and modify as appropriate
  • Keep abreast of latest trends and sustainable practices by participating in coaching, teambuilding, forums, and professional growth activities
  • Perform related work as required
