Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe certified or obtains certification within twelve months of hire
  • One year of experience working in food handling at a retail, food service, bakery, warehouse or grocery establishment or the successful completion of a qualified culinary program

  • One year of experience working in food handling at a retail, food service, bakery, warehouse or grocery establishment or the successful completion of a qualified culinary program
  • Culinary degree or certificate from a culinary arts program preferred
  • Experience baking in an institutional operation and catering operation preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), and time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs associated with position
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone etiquette

Job Duties

  • Ensures proper training, knowledge and compliance with recipes and standards
  • Preps and properly prepares ingredients for use following proper food handling and safety guidelines
  • Arranges presentations of desserts, platters and pastry products
  • Maintains levels of daily production assignments
  • Ensures food quality through tasting
  • Maintains and operates equipment according to approved safety standards
  • Reports issues with production, equipment, personnel or products to management
  • Maintains daily sanitation standards and logs per established guidelines
  • Determines amount and types of items and supplies required for food preparation
  • Completes food temperature checks before service and as needed per established guidelines
  • Accepts ownership and responsibility for success of pastry shop and team
  • Stores food properly and safely, following established guidelines marking the date and item
  • Acts as a lead in the absence of the lead role at the direction of leadership
