Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year of experience baking in the food service industry
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds frequently
  • capability to work variable schedules including prolonged sitting, standing, and computer use
  • adherence to hygiene and sanitation protocols
  • mental ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions
  • ability to adjust vision focus for quality control
  • compliance with background check requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year of experience baking in the food service industry
  • associate degree in Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Hotel/Restaurant Management or related field preferred
  • culinary certifications or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and maintain product consistency
  • strong attention to detail and creativity in menu development
  • effective collaboration and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of baked goods including bread, pastries, cakes, and desserts following standardized recipes
  • experiment with new recipes and techniques to enhance the menu
  • create, prepare, and customize baked goods for catering events aligning with themes and dietary requirements
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of bakery area by following hygiene and sanitation protocols
  • organize ingredients, baking supplies, and equipment to prepare for the next day
  • collaborate with kitchen staff to meet customer demands and support cafeteria baking schedule
  • perform additional tasks as assigned based on institutional needs
