Job Requirements
- minimum 16 years of age
- ability to assess situations and offer positive feedback
- experience and desire to work with school age children
- knowledge of positive leadership, children’s activities, developmental learning progressions, and discipline techniques
- maintain or obtain First Aid, CPR, AED, and mandated reporter certifications within 30 days of hire
- physical ability to perform duties including walking, climbing, standing, reaching, and occasional lifting
- effective oral and written communication skills
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- experience working with school age children
- knowledge of children’s activities, games, and developmental progressions
- understanding of positive leadership and discipline techniques
- effective communication skills
- ability to assess situations and provide positive feedback
- ability to work cooperatively within a team
- certification or willingness to obtain First Aid, CPR, AED, and mandated reporter certification within 30 days
- friendly and positive personality
Job Duties
- follow all departmental safety rules and support park district safety program
- work cooperatively with residents, colleagues, public, and partner agencies
- recommend improvements to accomplish district goals
- comply with park district policies and procedures
- work with school office staff, public, and Fox Valley Special Recreation Association staff
- follow up on absentees and communicate with parents
- effectively communicate with supervisors and participants
- lead activities at Baker Station
- resolve participant issues and notify parents
- assess participant needs and suggest program modifications
- identify unsafe situations and maintain a safe environment
- perform First Aid and CPR as necessary
- assist with emergency procedures
- perform other related duties or special projects as assigned
