Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • food handling certificate
  • minimum 1-2 years experience as Pastry Cook in hotels with similar style and standards
  • ability to perform pastry skills and operations
  • ability to plan and prepare for restaurant, catering and special events
  • ability to read and understand catering B.E.O.s
  • good knowledge of English language
  • physical ability to lift 20-30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • certification of culinary training or apprenticeship preferred
  • food handling certificate
  • minimum 1-2 years experience as Pastry Cook in hotels with similar style and standards
  • adequate pastry skills and operations
  • ability to plan and prepare for restaurant, catering and special events
  • ability to read and understand catering B.E.O.s
  • interest in participating in menu planning for dessert items
  • good working knowledge of English
  • ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and management
  • basic computer skills
  • physical ability to lift 20-30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • use equipment and tools properly and safely
  • adhere to state sanitation and health regulations and hotel requirements
  • meet with Pastry or Executive Chef to review assignments and anticipated business levels
  • complete opening duties including inspecting cleanliness and working conditions of equipment, checking production schedules, establishing priority items, and informing Chef of supply needs
  • prepare menu items according to recipes and departmental standards
  • inform Chef of foreseeable shortages
  • communicate 86'd items and available specials to Food and Beverage staff
  • maintain proper storage procedures as per Health Department and hotel regulations
  • minimize waste and maintain controls to achieve forecasted food cost
