Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers using American measurement units
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
- Ability to work with Stratton Warren purchasing system
- Capacity to stand, walk, handle, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, chemicals, extreme temperatures
- Requires good vision abilities including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Job Qualifications
- Good communication skills
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of two years experience in a full service restaurant preferred
- Ability to use all kitchen tools and equipment
- Capability to read, comprehend, and execute recipes
- Understanding of proper operation of bake shop equipment
- Knowledge of food safety and temperature controls
Job Duties
- Measure and mix ingredients to form dough or batter, using electric mixer or hand methods
- Shape dough for cookies, pies, and pastries
- Bake products accurately to recipe specifications
- Adjust drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperatures
- Prepare and cook ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards, and other desserts
- Decorate and finish cakes and pastries, including making chocolate and sugar decorations
- Clean work station and equipment thoroughly before end of shift
