Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • high School diploma or equivalent or one to three months related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • minimum of one to two years’ experience in bakery or full service restaurant preferred
  • ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as scheduled
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals
  • ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form
  • must have excellent communication skills
  • ability to perform basic math functions and interpret data
  • ability to use kitchen tools and equipment
  • ability to identify kitchen products
  • must be able to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues respectfully and tactfully
  • ability to present information effectively and respond to questions

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • one to two years’ experience in bakery or full service restaurant preferred
  • knowledge of food safety and proper food holding temperatures preferred
  • basic math skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and interpret graphs
  • excellent communication skills verbal and written
  • ability to read, comprehend, and execute recipes
  • ability to operate kitchen tools and equipment
  • strong customer service orientation and ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically
  • ability to understand and follow production logs and instructions
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment

Job Duties

  • Measures and mixes ingredients to form dough or batter using electric mixer or hand mixing
  • shapes dough for various bakery items such as cookies, bread, pies, pastries, and cakes
  • accurately bakes products according to recipe specifications
  • adjusts oven temperatures by regulating drafts or thermostatic controls
  • prepares and cooks ingredients for fillings, puddings, custards, and other desserts
  • mixes and colors icings and creates chocolate and sugar decorations
  • decorates and finishes cakes and pastries
  • operates bake shop equipment including ovens, mixers, dividers, rounders, dough sheeters
  • adheres to proper time and temperature controls
  • labels and dates products before storage
  • follows FIFO procedures when stocking coolers, freezers, and dry storage
  • maintains a clean and sanitary workstation
  • performs assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • reports issues or guest complaints to management
  • supports and promotes superior customer service
  • ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and confidentiality protocols
