Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent or one to three months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum one to two years' experience in bakery or full service restaurant preferred
- Must have ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as scheduled
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems in standardized situations
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- Ability to use all kitchen tools and equipment
- Ability to read, comprehend, and execute recipes
- Ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems diplomatically
- Ability to present information effectively to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years of bakery or full service restaurant experience preferred
- Knowledge of food holding temperatures and cleaning chemicals preferred
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use kitchen tools, equipment, and follow recipes
- Ability to interact with guests and resolve conflicts tactfully
- Ability to perform basic math calculations including fractions and decimals
Job Duties
- Measure and mix ingredients to form dough or batter, using electric mixer or hand mixing
- Shape dough for cookies, bread, pies, pastries, cakes, and other bakery items
- Accurately bake products following recipe specifications
- Adjust drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperatures
- Prepare and cook ingredients for fillings, puddings, custards, or other desserts
- Make pies and mix ingredients to make icings and color blends for decorations
- Decorate and finish cakes and pastries to satisfaction, including making chocolate and sugar decorations for outlets
