Job Requirements

  • minimum of an associate degree in related field
  • at least 1 year of experience in a professional bakery or kitchen setting with knowledge of artisan breads and pastries as well as basic mixing skills
  • an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
  • must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with customers, students, faculty, and staff face to face, and maintain a pleasant and inviting environment for all
  • must be able to produce products using standard and non-standard recipes
  • must have basic pastry skills
  • must be able to work with others and supervise interns in the production of like items
  • must be able to evaluate product errors and make corrections to prevent waste
  • must maintain a proper inventory of stock items for production of retail/wholesale products
  • must be able to keep simple records
  • must be able to conduct inventory and report needed supplies
  • must maintain proper sanitation standards
