Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in baking or food preparation preferred
  • ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • Customer-oriented with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • adaptability and physical stamina for a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10-12 hours per shift), especially during meal prep and service
  • ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (e.g., bulk food items, equipment, inventory)
  • frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting during food preparation and equipment handling
  • manual dexterity and fine motor skills for chopping, slicing, plating, and using kitchen tools and machinery
  • ability to work in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments
  • must be able to taste and smell food to ensure quality and consistency
  • visual acuity to monitor food presentation, cleanliness, and safety standards
  • ability to move freely in large kitchen spaces, storage areas, and multiple dining facilities across campus
  • ability to communicate clearly in a noisy kitchen environment
  • may require climbing ladders or using step stools to access upper storage or equipment

Job Duties

  • Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets
  • assist in production planning to meet daily requirements
  • ensure proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment
  • assist with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
  • inform supervisor when supplies are low
  • ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
  • clean equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments
  • keep display equipment clean and free of debris
  • perform other duties as assigned
