- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in baking or food preparation preferred
- ability to stand and walk for long periods
- physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- good communication skills
- ability to work as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- Customer-oriented with strong communication and teamwork skills
- adaptability and physical stamina for a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10-12 hours per shift), especially during meal prep and service
- ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (e.g., bulk food items, equipment, inventory)
- frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting during food preparation and equipment handling
- manual dexterity and fine motor skills for chopping, slicing, plating, and using kitchen tools and machinery
- ability to work in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments
- must be able to taste and smell food to ensure quality and consistency
- visual acuity to monitor food presentation, cleanliness, and safety standards
- ability to move freely in large kitchen spaces, storage areas, and multiple dining facilities across campus
- ability to communicate clearly in a noisy kitchen environment
- may require climbing ladders or using step stools to access upper storage or equipment
Job Duties
- Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets
- assist in production planning to meet daily requirements
- ensure proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment
- assist with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
- inform supervisor when supplies are low
- ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
- clean equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments
- keep display equipment clean and free of debris
- perform other duties as assigned
