Job Description
Levain Bakery is a celebrated bakery founded in 1995 by competitive triathletes and passionate bakers Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald in New York City. Job Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years of baking experience
- Open availability including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lift and push 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for an 8-hour shift excluding a one hour break
- Ability to walk up and down stairs at some locations
- Read and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
- Utilize basic computer skills including email and Microsoft Office
- Valid DOH Certification and additional regional required food handlers' certifications
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of baking experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow recipes and protocols accurately
- Team-oriented with a positive, empathy-forward attitude
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and troubleshoot issues
- Detail-oriented with high standards for quality
- Ability to motivate and inspire team members
- Must have valid DOH Certification and additional regional required food handlers' certifications
- Basic computer skills including email and Microsoft Office
- Ability to read and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
Job Duties
- Bake bread, cakes, muffins, cookies, and other baked goods according to Levain Bakery's recipes and standards
- Measure, mix, weigh, shape, and prepare various products ensuring proper consistency and following specific techniques and guidelines
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to maintain product quality and consistency
- Manage daily pars to ensure all baked goods meet quality standards and customer demands
- Follow and comply with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- Spot check finished products for taste, smell, feel, and visual consistency
- Ensure baking ingredients are appropriately stocked using FIFO processes
- Facilitate open, clear, and timely communication with team members and management
- Occasionally interact with customers, answering questions about baked goods
- Arrive to station on time, in uniform, and ready to work
- Lead with curiosity and compassion by showing care for co-workers and build meaningful connections
