Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year baking experience or relevant education
  • Willingness to work part-time weekend shifts
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Must comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Fully vaccinated preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy kitchen setting

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year experience baking from scratch in a busy kitchen or equivalent education
  • Experience as a line cook or prep cook preferred
  • Ability to create and decorate new bakery items
  • Skills in following standardized recipes accurately
  • Capability to supervise and delegate tasks to kitchen assistants
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and dietary needs

Job Duties

  • Prepare appetizing baked goods and desserts for residents and employees following standardized recipes
  • Calculate quantities required for the number of persons to be served
  • Delegate responsibilities to cook assistants involved in preparation
  • Assist in cleaning functions to maintain a safe and sanitary work area
  • Ensure food is stored, marked, dated, and covered correctly following FIFO methods
  • Meet food production schedules according to menu
  • Prepare baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
  • Notify Food Service Director or Chef of low food items and supplies
  • Perform duties in alignment with The Village mission and Food Service Department motto
  • Carry out other assigned duties and special projects related to dietary service operations
