Job Requirements

  • At least one year relevant baking experience or equivalent education
  • Ability to work part-time weekend shifts
  • Knowledge of baking and dessert preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and FIFO methods
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Preferred experience as a line cook or prep cook
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 preferred

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year experience baking from scratch in a busy kitchen
  • Preferred experience as a line cook or prep cook
  • Ability to introduce creative new menu items and possess decoration skills
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitary practices
  • Ability to calculate quantities and follow standardized recipes
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Effective delegation and team coordination skills
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare appetizing baked goods and desserts (rolls, cakes, cookies, etc.) according to standardized recipes
  • Calculate quantities required for number of persons to be served
  • Delegate responsibility to cook assistants in the preparation of baked goods and desserts
  • Assist in cleaning functions to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
  • Ensure proper food storage, marking, dating, and covering following FIFO methods
  • Meet food production schedules according to the menu
  • Prepare baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
  • Notify Food Service Director and/or Chef of low supply food items and supplies
  • Perform duties in alignment with the mission and motto of The Village and Food Service Department
