Job Requirements
- At least one year relevant baking experience or equivalent education
- Ability to work part-time weekend shifts
- Knowledge of baking and dessert preparation techniques
- Familiarity with food safety standards and FIFO methods
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Preferred experience as a line cook or prep cook
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 preferred
Job Qualifications
- At least one year experience baking from scratch in a busy kitchen
- Preferred experience as a line cook or prep cook
- Ability to introduce creative new menu items and possess decoration skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitary practices
- Ability to calculate quantities and follow standardized recipes
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effective delegation and team coordination skills
- Good communication skills
Job Duties
- Prepare appetizing baked goods and desserts (rolls, cakes, cookies, etc.) according to standardized recipes
- Calculate quantities required for number of persons to be served
- Delegate responsibility to cook assistants in the preparation of baked goods and desserts
- Assist in cleaning functions to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
- Ensure proper food storage, marking, dating, and covering following FIFO methods
- Meet food production schedules according to the menu
- Prepare baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
- Notify Food Service Director and/or Chef of low supply food items and supplies
- Perform duties in alignment with the mission and motto of The Village and Food Service Department
