Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of baking experience or equivalent education
  • ability to perform physical tasks related to baking
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • preferred experience as a line cook or prep cook
  • fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is preferred

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of baking experience in a busy kitchen
  • experience as a line cook or prep cook preferred
  • creativity in menu development and decorating skills
  • ability to follow standardized recipes
  • ability to delegate tasks and work in a team
  • knowledge of safe food storage and sanitation practices
  • strong communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepares baked goods and desserts according to standardized recipes
  • calculates quantities required based on the number of persons to be served
  • delegates responsibilities to cook assistants
  • assists in cleaning and maintaining a safe, sanitary work area
  • ensures proper food storage using FIFO methods
  • meets food production schedules according to the menu
  • prepares baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
  • notifies Food Service Director or Chef of low supplies
  • performs duties in line with The Village mission and Food Service Dept. motto
  • undertakes additional duties and special projects as assigned
