Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • at least one year of baking experience from scratch in a busy kitchen
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • creativity in introducing new baked items
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • physical ability to perform baking duties
  • ability to supervise and delegate tasks
  • willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures
  • preferred vaccination status
  • must be able to work flexible hours

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of baking experience from scratch in a busy kitchen
  • creativity in menu development and decorating skills
  • ability to follow standardized recipes
  • experience as line cook or prep cook preferred
  • ability to supervise kitchen assistants
  • knowledge of safe food handling and storage
  • ability to meet production schedules
  • good communication skills
  • education may be substituted for experience

Job Duties

  • Prepare appetizing baked goods and desserts following standardized recipes
  • directly responsible for preparation of baked goods and desserts for regular and special diets according to menu
  • calculate quantities required for the number of persons to be served
  • delegate responsibilities to cooks assistants assigned to help in preparation
  • assist in cleaning and maintain work area in a safe and sanitary manner
  • ensure food is stored, marked, dated and covered correctly following FIFO methods
  • meet food production schedules according to menu
  • prepare baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
  • notify Food Service Director and/or Chef of low food supplies
  • perform duties according to The Village's mission and Food Service Department's motto
  • perform other duties and special projects related to dietary department operations
