Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- at least one year of baking experience from scratch in a busy kitchen
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- creativity in introducing new baked items
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- physical ability to perform baking duties
- ability to supervise and delegate tasks
- willingness to adhere to company policies and procedures
- preferred vaccination status
- must be able to work flexible hours
Job Qualifications
- At least one year of baking experience from scratch in a busy kitchen
- creativity in menu development and decorating skills
- ability to follow standardized recipes
- experience as line cook or prep cook preferred
- ability to supervise kitchen assistants
- knowledge of safe food handling and storage
- ability to meet production schedules
- good communication skills
- education may be substituted for experience
Job Duties
- Prepare appetizing baked goods and desserts following standardized recipes
- directly responsible for preparation of baked goods and desserts for regular and special diets according to menu
- calculate quantities required for the number of persons to be served
- delegate responsibilities to cooks assistants assigned to help in preparation
- assist in cleaning and maintain work area in a safe and sanitary manner
- ensure food is stored, marked, dated and covered correctly following FIFO methods
- meet food production schedules according to menu
- prepare baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
- notify Food Service Director and/or Chef of low food supplies
- perform duties according to The Village's mission and Food Service Department's motto
- perform other duties and special projects related to dietary department operations
